So, battery off and back on again and I'm still in the same situation. Weird as when I picked it up last week the radio worked fine, not sure what I did to get it into this situation!
I'm replacing it with an Android head end shortly but would have liked to use the radio in the meantime...

2002 HU dramatically different iirc.
As an after thought @omega1 have done a battery reset ? sometimes it will cure a multitude of problems.
Thanks all for your comments/suggestions on this one. I fitted a new battery today and hey presto! the radio works again.
So in conclusion, it would seem to be related to the battery voltage, though strange that it wouldn't work when the vehicle was running either?
Anyway, the radio now works, thanks again.
Personally have a discovery 3 and know on that if the battery isn’t up to scratch will cause all sorts of issues
with all these modern landies if the battery isn’t any good will create issues, indeed get a multimeter snd ensure with the engine off the battery is at least 12.6 Vdc
fingers crossed after you’ve given the battery a good charge or replaced it may just resolve ur issues
indeed Plse let us know how u get on
