reet all you tech heads out i've got a few questions fer ya aboot sat navs.

can you load in grid refs for the start of green lanes on thum tomtom thingys if yes wich is the best one to get?

or would the little hand held one's be better!

and yes i have done a search but cant find the answers im looking for and another yes! i've always used os maps and still will cus they is cheep.

No you can't put grid refs in there is a poi (points of interest) file with the start/end of Boats. that you can load in to tomtom.

There is a car satnav that will run MemoryMap (Can't remember it's name)

I run an Ipaq PDA with both TomTom and MemeoryMap on it. if you want the memorymap dvd's theres plenty of free downloads and people who are willing to make & Send you a copy.
 
thank's guy's sounds like a pda's the way to go for me then out of interest redhand which one do you have or could you recomend,can you buy them with said software already loaded i dont know much about them meself!

i think its the road angel navigator 7000? or something like that pikey.

whatever PDA you get, remember you need to couple it with a GPS reciever. i picked up an old Dell axim x30 off ebay for £30 and GPS for £35. its a cheaper way of getting things :D ive also just been told i could use fugawi navigator on my PDA with scanned maps (stored on SD card) for when i go to Morocco the end of this year :)
 
right been looking at the road angel navigator 7000,and i'm a little confoosed griffdowg you said i'll need a gps rerciever do i still need one with one of these?

No the road angel comes with the gps all ready built in it looks like a tomtom go or navman GPS but will run Memoerymap as well. I have an Ipaq 6915 which also has a built in gps as well as wifi, bluetooth, gprs, gsm, IR. some PDA's don't have built in GPS and these need an external GPS receiver usually Bluetooth. But there are other types as well.
