Umm...I must be seeing something the wrong way here. Imagine you turn
the wheels hard over and drive round and round. The front of the car
would turn in a circle larger than the rear of the car, because the
steering is done at the front. The front wheels therefore have a
greater distance to travel.

No ?

Yes!

Since you are going to be in a foreign country I would try to get the best
running piece of %&#! as a nice looking truck will probably be a target
for theft.

You will then be walking anyway.

Auto theft is very high here in Phoenix as we are close to the boarder.

Just think in a foreign country they don't have to drive across a border.

Good luck you may need it.

I think he will be OK in Saudi, most people there are relatively wealthy and
crime is very, very low compared to the US.

It helps in that the saudi punishment for theft is loss of the right hand on
the first offence, and loss of the head on the second.

Don't try shoplifting while over there.

From my previous post (if you had read it):

I have some info on sand driving below:
http://4crawler.cruiserpages.com/4x4/index.shtml

4WD and air the tires down.

And I tried 2WD with the exact same rig in the same sand with the same tire pressures and while you could get going and manuever, there was a *dramatic* difference in how steep a hill you could climb or get going on. 2WD probably works fine for a sand
rail, where you have 90% (or whatever) weight over the rear tires with big paddle wheels then run narrow tires up front for steering. But in a 50:50 weight distribution vehicle, I would want a 50:50 torque split between ends as well.

Except if you live in a country where they cut your hands off for
stealing....

Indeed, for the punishments range from flogging to beheading to
stoning. There are wealthy people in Saudi, but there are also a
great many comparatively poor Saudis and immigrant workers. After
all, when was the last time you saw a rich person sweeping the floor
or emptying bins ?

Never, it's just that in Saudi they are Palestinian, Egyptian, Yemeni and in
the US they are Mexican!

The point I was making was that Saudi is relatively rich and relatively safe
for the region so you need not worry too much - it's definitely safer than
Detroit. :)
