I am planning to go to Salisbury Plain this weekend for the first time. Any tips on where to go and where to find an entry point coming from Malmesbury, Devizes direction?
Hi I can't play this weekend either as I went to Salisbury plain last Sunday and was out again in the rain all day yesterday.
A couple of us here in swindon go about once a month, I normally cook bacon rolls for everyone.
I think this weekend is the last one before military training starts again.
If you make your way to tidworth you can turn right and enter some good spots from their.
As you head towards tidworth, take the second tank entrance on the right, follow the track and it will take you straight to the military driver training area (as seen on top gear).
I have done some brilliant routes around their, pm me if you want to know a nice long ditch to follow, that said don't contimplate the ditch unless you have all the guards, snorkel and wading kit as we drove the length of it last week in a 4" lifted 90, scraping the bottom and with the bonnett covered in water.
Have a brilliant time, let us know both how you get on and when your going again and hopefully a few of us might be able to tag along.
Spent plenty of time on Salisbury plain blowing stuff up
that area gets hired out to clubs so if there were 500 scramblers on it what does that sayI understand that areas of the plain do get closed off and I am sure your absulotely right that they will remove you with out your Landy.
As the titled LZ Salisbury plain guide you know best. The area iv mentioned was shown to me and about ten other drivers some time ago as the driver training area, open to public use unless flagged.
I'm happy to put my hands up if I'm wrong but the 500 or so scramblers using the same area iv directed to will all also be wrong as they where like ants all over it on Sunday.
Basic rules are obvious, stick to the correct byway, keep your eyes open everywhere, take a good map.
