Cat D doesn't have much/any effect on re-insurance cost.

That's awful luck!
This is correct (I speak for ourselves though)
At least you're here to tell the tale! I'd dread to think what state it'd be in if you were a few feet further forward & you were hit from the drivers side.
All be it a way off, if it does get written off & you require and help with insuring it once back on the road do just drop me a PM - We're here to help!

Legal or not, I would suggest that you get the chassis geometry checked out to make sure that everything is pointing exactly in the right direction before you spend any more.Yeah brian47 said about an engine swap on that. I'm thinking though of keeping her replacing the front bumper with an ARB deluxe bull bar (as link below) but I've not idea if they are legal or not as half say they are and the other half not

It would be an even sadder day if it's undriveable because it's twisted and no amount of new bumpers and bodywork bits is going to sort that.
Jordan (@Adrian Flux ) might be able to confirm it but a bit of paper saying that it has been checked and is within normal parameters might be a good thing to have when you come to re-insure it.Initial inspection it seems fine but you are right, I'll get it checked over before I do anything expensive.

Check out eBay but when you search, on the left hand side you can scroll down the advanced search/refine search options and select 'Completed listings' or 'Sold listings' which gives you prices they have actually sold for.
Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, it's just more accurate than looking at current auctions
