I was underneath taking the prop off so I could change the UJ's,
And I grab hold of the Drivers Side Rear Outrigger to pull myself out from underneath and ended up with a face and hand full of rust!

I thought to myself ah its all abit rusty im sure its fine for now.

then I looked closer...

So I ordered up a new one....

and set about removing the old one (what was left)

I undid all of the bolts (having supported the fuel tank)

Without touching anything and only undoing the bolts the outrigger pretty much fell off!!

Eventually managed to get it all ground out and cleaned up.

And set about getting the new one in.

New one bolted in place to make sure it is aligned correctly.

I pre painted the outrigger, leaving the iner most part bare metal so i could weld it.

Welded it all up and bolted the tank back in place.

and then gave everything I good couple of coats of underseal.

Hopefully it will out last the chassis which is in need of some major work or replacing.

Ta very much!

Was a pain in the ass, getting the old one out and cleaning the hole up to make it round!! and big enough to fit the new one in.

Thank good for my Air compressor and die grinder, Gold Old Father Xmas!!

i never said i'd have repaired it, i said i'd have got a replacement from MIB, meaning, i'd have bought a new outrigger from MIB as the design is better than OE

Whats the difference?

Cant see any photos on MIB website I only paid £18. So it would need to be a significant improvement/similar cost to make it worth it?

i've put them on mine, not much extra in price but a better design that stops mud etc collecting and rotting them from the inside out. i will say though, nice job you've done there :)
