I’m sick of wire brushing and painting these things, but I would be physically sick if I need to pay £300 for a set of stainless ones.
Has anyone found a decent paint or process to give me more than 5 minutes being back on before they start rusting again 🤔

My hinges are aluminium
Have you got the horribly overpriced billet aluminium hinges?

@meego I thought you used to be able to get galvanised ones which I am sure is what I have on the front of mine. But when I needed second row hinges I could not find any. I am expecting the same issue. But so far are just in zinc primer and coach enamel.

Craddocks have got zinc plated hinges for £92
Might be worth a go at some point !!

And that might be why I didn't bother with the second row hinges. I am sure they were about £30! but that was a few years ago now and I know prices have increased.

I had mine blasted and hot zinc sprayed maybe 20 yrs ago along with lots of other bits and bobs. I then painted them. No rust but the paint is a bit iffy now.
My local galv place had a minimum order value of £100 a while back, maybe that's an option with some other bits? They have to be clean though. Stainless bolts but I didn't buy the expensive, to me, kit, I got standard countersunk hex drive ss bolts but had to reduce the outside diameter of the heads on a bench grinder so they would sit nicely into the hinge holes.

I’m thinking mine are a cheap aftermarket set and rust for fun. I’ve given two coats of primer and two coats of Hammerite this time and the next time they’re off they’re going in the bin. I’ve done the exact same as you with the bolts with grinding the heads down. A lot cheaper than buying the proper ones.

Got some of the zinc plated ones when I fitted new door five years ago, still good and I live by the sea.
