Replaced head gasket tightened down as to Haynes.

Started up and .....

Still white smoke , me thinks head is F##cked

New head complete coming today from Land rover with new gasket new head bolts have invested in new angle torque wrench .

Hopefully this will cure ,

Does anyone know if the complete head is straight bolt on or does it have to be set up before fitting ?

Attached pictures of where I am , new head ready to go on after swapping over injectors , plugs thermostat housing .
Fingers crossed for dry day tomorrow.

So new head on after a bit of smoke / mist for first 30mins all cleared and can now drive down the road without laying a smoke screen.

Now I have 2 issues left .
1 temperature needle not moving
2 still no heating in the cab

Hope it's dry tommorow...

Hi advice needed.

Temperature gauge now resolved .

But I only have heat at over 2500 revs and now the smoke has returned NOT on tick over but intimitantly when driving along . Any ideas ?

Hey any thoughts on this ?

At the moment very ****ed off . sitting with 5lts of petrol and a pack of matches in hand !!!!!

Drives fine no loss of power but still smoking when driving but not on idle vehicle does not overheat HELP

hi all ,

Welding work will be carried out on disco next week and have been buying a few bits so I can do all in one go .

Bit I'm having trouble finding are what appear to be body mounts on chassis at front inline with engine.

I will get a picture up tonight when I get home but have searched and everyone I look at is completely different.

pictures of the rust.

She will be saved !

Thanks ,

Have managed to get some Hempel paint to go over the chasis next weekend.

Same stuff they use on oil rigs to stop them rusting so hoping it will standup well on the Disco

Not sure yet ,

Got it cheap as the HG went and misses is pregnant and 110 wont get in the car park due to 2inch lift .

Thinking now its all welded up finish treating the chassis then wheel arch kit bigger tyres new rear bumper as its starting to go.
