Running with no front propshaft.

I need to replace some of the u/js on my front propshaft, can I run the car without it for a day or two, without fear of damaging the front diff?

Just realised, without a centre diff lock that isn't going to work!

Please excuse my stupidity.

What year is your car ?. It may have the cdl fitted and you just need to turn the spigot to lock it.

As it's a '99 TD5 you almost certainly have a CDL, you just don't have the linkage.

Here's a pic of a transfer box with the spigot arrowed:

The spigot has two flat faces on it to grip and turn it. Once it's in diff-lock a light will come on the dashboard.

If its any good to you i ran my Tdi 300 for 2 weeks on & off with no front prop', just put the diff' into the left position H' and your diff light should appear on your dash, otherwise you won't budge.

and dont be scared if the ABS and TC lights will be on while the central diff is locked...it's normal for that setup
