OK, I've been looking at my father in laws Freelander, V6 2.5, which needed the thermostat changing..... Did this, seemed a bit of an involved job but it's all back together now....

The issue I have is getting the car started. During the thermostat change I needed to disconnect the battery and now I have three issues:
1) Radio will not come on, regardless of how long I push the power button
2) Automatic gearbox doesn't show the current gear on the dashboard
3) Engine will not turn over

My thoughts are a fuse, connection, feed, is being a bit sticky but I can't find anything off or blown. I've been reading everything I can find and getting no-where fast.

I just wanted to know if there is a known set of things you need to do following a reconnect of the battery that could solve this issue.

Any and all help apreciated as I'm begining to loose my mind over this now, everything checks out with my multimeter but it still will not turn over.....

Thanks in advance...

Why would you disconnect the battery for a thermostat ?

On the V6 the wires for the coil packs and injectors, which share the protective cover with the alternator wires, need to be disconnected to remove the inlet manifold to get to the thermostat. Then the top hose pipe breaks while trying to get the thermostat out and you have to wait a week for the spares to come in before you can finish off the job so, to make sure you don't ark between the positive wire from the alternator and the body, you disconnect the battery. In hindsight I guess covering it in a plastic bag would have done a better job without the issues that the battery disconnecting has caused but I'll remember that for next time.
