Running in?

hello,

Does anybody know how long it should take (in miles) before my 2.5 N/A diesel is substantially run in following my recent rebuild? We're talking deglazed cylinders here, not re-honed bores. Also, will it take long for my cylinders to re-glaze themselves?

I've done as much as I can to help. I've towed my dads car up some hills, driven up some huge hills on a regular basis and stuff alike.

Will my cylinders soon glaze up again?

Don't reckon it makes much difference but aren't you supposed to avoid hard use while running in?

it won't need to be run in if just the glaze was broken,you're wanting to know how long it will be until it glazes up again,the simple answer is you don't want it to glaze up again,why do you think the glaze was busted in the first place?it is desirable to have cross hatching in the bores as it retains oil thus leading to longer life,drive it as normal and all will be fine.

aye I know that! I don't want them to glaze up again so that's why I'm asking how long it usually takes before I might need to reconsider the job again. I'm hoping another 20 years
