Running a 200tdi on biodiesel

Given that you haven't said where you are that would be a difficult question to answer.
I live 2 miles from the Severn bridge. since I posted i did a bit more googling and found a company selling on ebay. There isn't any savings over normal diesel as far as i can see it actually more expensive but I still want to give it a go if only to show the electric car people my old 90 is greener ;-).

As marjon says that's normal DERV couriered to you so it would be more expensive.

I'm not near you but used to run bio in my 300tdi. The guy I was getting it off gave up in the end.
Oil wasn't as cheap to get for him so he had to charge more for the bio. But the killer was that Pikeys kept nicking the stuff. They left his equipment so he could brew more for them to nick next time round. He gave up and sold the equipment.

The cost of new veg oil has pushed up the cost of used veg oil (used is used for bio) plus an amount of bio is added to some derv at some pumps, war in Ukraine has pushed up the price of new oil, chemicals and electricity costs, both needed for bio production, have also gone through the roof. It's hard to make any profit now for the big boys except the underhand ones.

I'm hoping to find it at a comparable price to forecourt because my main motivation is try to be a bit more green with my motoring. It's a shame that there aren't many government incentives to use green fuels. I don't know why they are so set on battery cars they are heavier so they do more damage to the road, when they inevitably catch fire they can't be put out, the mining activities are awful and on top of that most of them are charged by coal fire power stations if you are going to consider China!
If you consider the carbon cost of the manufacture of my car can be spread over decades and when you include green fuel a 35+ year old landrover is a far greener vehicle than one of those new fanged Teslas if you ask me! lol

The previous owner of my 90 used to run it on biodiesel. It’s still got the sticker in the offside wing for it! It’s not something I’ve carried on with. In the 10 years since I’ve had the 90, veg oil has shot up in price, due initially due to demand and retailers wising up to its use as a fuel and in recent years, the conflict in Ukraine. There isn’t much difference in price now, especially since diesel has dropped. Much as I try to be “green”, I’m also a realist and for me, the green factor alone wouldn’t be enough to sway me towards biodiesel as a fuel when derv is similar in price and easily available.
