I am currently running 75:25 mix of diesel to veggie oil in my 300 tdi disco after running my escort van on it. Stopped using it in my van as apparently lucas fuel pumps dont like it. Bosch pumps I have been told can cope.

ktc Veg oil on special offer in bookers cash and carry at mo £17.99 for 20 ltrs or they also do 15 ltrs of Euro shopper oil for £12.99 ;)

Havent seen the euroshopper oil yet,but do buy the KTC.
I would definitely buy the ES if i could find it.

I found the euroshopper oil a few aisles away from the where all the other oils are in Bookers. It comes in a box of 15 one litre bottes at £12.99

I will definately up the ratio though. One thing I am curious about though is whether I need to thin it or not, at moment I add a small amount of white spirit.

Found it today,bought all the stock on the shelf 195 litres.
Saving £84.63 on current deisel prices,cost me 168 quid.

I was chuffed to get 40 litres of KTC vegetable oil from bookers today, then when I read the box it says it's GM Soya oil with E900 anti foaming agent. Is anyone else using this or is it cr@p? I did a bit of research to find that BP Ultimate Diesel has an "Anti Foaming agent", but can't find out if its E900 (Polydimethylsiloxane)
 
Note normal veg oil has a calorific rating (i think it's calories!) of 900 whereas when it has anti foaming agent it's only about 825 or something, it's silicone based which means it doesn't burn, which means about 10% of what you are putting through your engine won't burn - it won't give any energy, but i was more worried about where it will end up! I did a fred on this the other day but didn't get anywhere, this was just my calculations!

took the plunge today and got 20 litres of veg oil from asda £1 a litre but seems good stuff, had about 10 litres of derv already in and dare i say it im converted, not sure on the smell though
 
Why can't you run WVO without converting to Biodiesel. What your saying is, if I buy 300 litres of veg oil off the shelf, I can mix it into diesel in the tank and run happily. BUT! if I fry a few cod in it first! It won't work? Bollocks!

Surely it needs the bits filtering out and possibly checking for moisture content and your away? If its palm oil or something else a bit more viscous than Rape then it might need a bit more dilution but thats all.

all that making bio diesel does is reduce the viscosity by going from a tri- glyceride to a methyl or ethyl ester three molecules for the prcie of one.
My concern about Bio would be has the manufacturer cleaned it up properly as there will be gycerine, water and caustic soda to take out which may not do the pump seals any good.
On the subject of seals I used to work on ester development and seal testing was a big part of that. You should have seen some of the seal material after immersion in the esters.
