change the valve stem seals whilst the heads are off,it will save you more misery in the long run.

you dont need one but a valve sring compressor helps, you should prolly lap the valves back in too!!!

if all yer replacing is yer valve seals, borrow a valve clamp off someone , even yer local small garage will lend one fer a £10 deposit usualy , ther bout £25 at machine mart
this is how i did it , dont loose the collets tho !

see theres no tolls shops or anything like that here i had to drive 30 miles to get tools the other day! thats why i dont really want to be doing it again? so are you all saying if i dont replace some of these valve bits tomorrow before fitting back together something will go wrong or will something happen soon etc?

using a grinding paste and dolly yer put the valves back from where they come , loose, put a rab of grinding paste on the rim and lap them in till thers a complete ring round the seat on the head and valve, yer can check with a drop of petrol to see if its a "water tight " seal !

those seals are to stop oil getting in to the engine via the valve stems,on your heads there is a good chance that yours will be brittle so changing them is a must really.

thats cos you have got a v8 mate,two valves per cylinder.
