I just bought a set of rubber pedals for my brake clutch accelerator pedals. They arent what I expected (push on) they have metal strips through them? Are these designed to wrap around the pedal to hold them in place? They seem very rigid??? Also the Brake and clutch one has a vertical tab of metal sticking upwards? What are you supposed to do with that??? Sorry if its obvious, Im restoring my 1st Series 3 so not come accross anything like this before so Im sure I'll learn much more in time. :)

yes all the tabs are supposed to be bent round the pedal to hold them on they are pretty rigid as you say this is to make sure they bloody well stay on unlike the cheaper versions made by a certain company that has a reputation for crappy ill fitting sub-normal parts

yer best bet to get these tabs to fit tightly is to use a large pair of plumbers grips ( dunno the propper name of them but they normally open up and slide to give different jaw opening sizes ) use them as they have better grabbing power than normal pliers and can be used to get over the pedal and the rubber grip to squash the tabs down at the back of the pedal :D:D:D:D

Recently fitted a set to mine. Mole grips, pliers and G clamps needed. G clamps handy for tightening the tabs around at different angles. One of those simple jobs that can take a good hour or so!

Them plumbers grips is water pump pliers or just plain pump pliers here in the midlands

I put a set of those on mine from a company we won't mention on here. Almost every tab I bent round snapped off. How can the quality be so poor.
I wasn't trying to bend them at a sharp right angle either.
