Hello!

I am having problems with my 1988 RRC, it just will not start. Its as dead as a door nail. At first I thought it might be the battery so first of all I changed the battery but still no luck.

I have taken the starter motor motor off and it turns when I tested it direct to the battery.

Anybody any suggestions?

Hi Nick,

This RR is 3.5 Vogue with a lpg conversion.

Ive taken a hot live straight to the starter and a hot negative and starter is refusing to turn with a lorry battery on the other end! So looks like its the starter motor.

So thats the next plan to change it!!

hi where exactly are you trying to get it to turn over i.e where are you putting the cables from the slave battery ? are you putting them on the large + terminal on the starter then turning the key ? , if so try shorting across from the large + terminal to the small terminal on the solenoid this will then bypass you ignition switch and any relay that may be fitted into the starter circuit , obiviously make sure its not in gear and that the handbrake is firmly applied :)

Hi Rick.

Ive already tried that. My friend whose a mechanic popped down last night and he said its definately the starter motor.

Anybody any ideas where to get one from? Im based in East Yorkshire, seen a few on ebay, but I'd rather get one locally if I can.

Cheers

Kev
