My 1994 rrc had the control module for seat /mirror control removed. The seats can be altered via the switches, suits me fine. I want to be able to adjust the mirror's via the dash switch. Will the existing motors work, if not I have 2 freelander motors that I can fit. How to wire this is my problem? Thank's in advance.

Don’t know about the controller on the 94...,
But on a 92 the mirrors and Cruse control
Are hooked together
And removing the mirrors is like the easiest thing... so maybe at the controller you could jump the wires to regain control at the dash

The mirror motors should work. What you might want to do is look at the wiring diagram for your car and then look at a wiring diagram for an earlier model that doesn't have the memory seats. My '91 doesn't have the memory seats and the wiring is different so in theory I can't see why you couldn't retro fit the wiring for an earlier model to power the mirror switch and the motors. I hope that makes sense?

I don't have cruise control, I know the mirror's are easy to fit/remove. What I want to know is, will the existing memory motors work directly from the dash switch or will I need to change the motors. I am looking for an easy way to re-wire the switch? Thank's

Yes that is spot on. I was hoping with all the problems re- battery leakage ruining the memory module, I could get info. about re-wiring to make it easy for me! Thank's for the reply.

I would think the motors in your mirrors
Are the same as in my mirrors..,.
The memory should be in the control module
And I would think the previous post by classic Kev
Would be correct

I agree about the memory ( I had been told the memory was in the motor). I still want info. how to re-wire switch , without having to chase after 2 wiring diagram's. Thank's for replies.

What you need to bear in mind is that seat ECU is essentially a couple of driver IC's and some memory chips that "remember" the relative positions of seats and mirrors. They are arranged to create XYZ switching and memory, or at least it is something like that. If you open the seat ECU you will find a load of relays in there. These are what make the seats and mirrors move. I think that the mirror switches take power from the seat ecu, energise the relevant relay and move the mirror.

There is no reason why you can't rewire the mirrors to be independent, you just need to think about where you take the power from an how you will then pass the power from the switch to the correct relays. As I said before, it may well be easier to just by-pass the seat ECU by putting in the mirror controls from a non-memory seat model.
