Classic RRC Fuel Tank Drain Plug thread pls

Hi folks,
Courtesy of a local low life who decided to steal the petrol from my 89 RR, and take the drain plug too, I am trying to find a quick solution. Being in New Zealand, parts supply is average, so I've ordered parts from the UK. But, this could be two or three weeks away. Can anyone help me please by telling me the thread of the petrol tank drain plug. NRC62 is the part number I believe. That way I can try to get a temporary bolt to tide me over. Its definitely bigger than an M12 seemingly.
I've googled, and the only answer I've seen quoted says its an M12 1.0mm...which it isn't.

I have just had i bit of a google and it looks like it is 1/4 bsp, which seams about right as diff plugs and gearbox drains are generally bsp.

It’ll certainly be BSP, grab a couple of brass plugs from a plumbing store.

Perfect gentlemen. Thank you so much. Its now a risk of a temporary fix that never gets removed despite the "right" parts arriving in due course I can at least get it running again and off to the panel beater.

You could always fit a tap to make it easier for the low life.

. I have had some voltage-related ideas, I must confess. Its not the first issue I've had over the years on the rare occasion I have to park on the road.

That's interesting, over here in the UK insurance companies seem to rate a vehicle parked on the road a lesser risk than if parked on your driveway

Thieves have been killed when stealing cat. converters & the jacked-up car has fallen on them. Strangely enough they don't get much sympathy

Well, one of my previous experiences was someone breaking the rear window of my '71 MGBGT. I then found that there were none available in the southern hemisphere, and it took 4 months for the insurance to source one. At least this issue has been dealt to in days and weeks. My road is clearly on a scumbag travel path...
