Hi Gents,

I Have a 1986 90 front axle to which I want to fit a Range Rover classic diff and outer stubby half shafts, but keep the defender hubs and brakes etc..

How compatible with the defender hubs are the classics CV joints and half shaft bits & Pieces. Can I fit the RR Diff, Halfshafts,CV joints and drive flanges/shaft into the defender hubs and axle casing? or do I have to use the Classics Hubs in order to use the Classics out drive shaft/Flange?

If it's the rangie axle with the mushroom headed drive members with integral stub shafts they won't fit defender or disco hubs. The diffs are interchangeable but check you've got 10 spline halfshafts in both.

so woss different overall for straight swap then why not?too wide?diff ratios?
You could swap the whole axle no probs. Parts like the stub shafts are getting expensive now though I'd go for a 24 spline axle from a disco meself, cheap as chips and lots of interchangeable parts so shouldn't be any problems in the future.
