thats the pipe av just replaced it was the last one to do the t connector had broken an a bit was in the pipe to the plenum no word of a lie it hasnt done nowt suspicious since it was fixed just idling a li8ttle low sometimes but not cutting out hose an connector cost me 17 quid well spent aswell
Whilst your at it why don't you renew the crankcase intake filter.
The T piece(crankcase ventilation hose) that is taped up can get clooged/
blocked up. Be careful because over time they become brittle and break very easy .Which would appear has already happened,hence the reason for the tape . The engine will run if this is not sealed properly but it does not like it.Also the engine breather filter or chimney as I call it should also be checked to ensure that it's in good condion.You can immerse it in a small amount of solvent to loosen up any debris .The other thing I do is to undo the ventilation hose from the side of the plenum chamber and using a piece of lint free cloth /paper gently cleanand wipe away any dirt that might be present.(carb cleaner) Being careful not to allow any debris/dust /dirt etc to pass the throttle butterfly . Also unscrew the stepper motor and do the same .I think youll be surprised as to the amount of dirt that can accumulate in these places as they do tend to get overlooked .It might not be the answer to your problem but it won.t do any harm, just let the engine breathe alot easier
