Have a buddy with a RRS 2006 and he seldom uses the EBP he instead leaves vehicle in park , all in an effort to minimise wear and tear and servicing on the handbrake. Is he doing right ?

Nope, unless it's already fooked. If it's serviceable, use it or lose it ;)

Discovery forums are worth a look, as RRS is based on the (superior :p) Disco 3

Thanks for opinion . I was considering a RRS myself in future , but hate that EPB system and the repair bills that it can throw .
I've always done my own servicing on my Disco 1 . but I feel the EPB would require a main stealer to service and repair .

Aint done it myself but apparently diy-able :)

Bodsy is a member of disco3.co.uk it's a good source of info, like I said a lot of it will carry over to RRS

Yes , Read bodsys bible . What a lot of maintainance compared to a mechanical brake and how unreliable on an off road vehicle. Still time moves forward and I strive to keep up :)

live in the north of sweden, hardly ever use handbrake because of danger of it freezing solid, but it is a good idea to use once in a while to stop mechanism rusting up. He will be okay leaving it in park just use it when parking on an incline

Never been a fan of using the parking pawl to hold a 3ton vehicle.

The HB can seize from lack of use ya know..

And it isn't witchcraft to replace..
