P38 parts are cheap. £1500 to buy, £1500 max to get it sorted. however unless you are handy with the spanners, better not buy any Land Rover product. With a budget of 3 grand, which would be the best range rover diesel to go for?
2.5... 3.0... 3.6...?
That would be a more sensible optionWith a budget of 3 grand it's a disco 2
If you can find one that hasn't rusted away. With a budget of 3 grand it's a disco 2

Before my P38 I looked at several DS 2's. Not one would have gone through an MOT without a welding rod. There's plenty.

If looking at Diesel P38'S, spend an extra five minutes and try and get a manual box. I gather auto's on 2.5's just eat gearboxes
Un chipped the gearbox is fine, if you want to chip the beast, a swap to the HP24 box handles the extra power with ease. As for the manual, it's OK if you have a hydraulic left leg. Before my P38 I looked at several DS 2's. Not one would have gone through an MOT without a welding rod.

??? Don't know why you say that, there must have been something wrong with the operating system on the one you drove or time had taken it's toll on your pins. My 10 year old grandson manages to drive mine on the farm without a problem.Un chipped the gearbox is fine, if you want to chip the beast, a swap to the HP24 box handles the extra power with ease. Too many years driving auto's has weakened my left leg maybe In today's traffic, manual is hard work.???
