Yeah I tried moving the nut with a pair or mole grips but it wouldn’t budge. Will try again tomorrow. Will steal the battery off my Disco 4 as try that as I know it’s good.Right use an adjustable wrench on nut your talking about that's what I did...V8 won't start on Duff battery...will photo text from book and post didn't mean choke cable but big pipe with black ends on it connection between carbs
Thank you. It does, although I think this is for an earlier model carb? Mine is the CD3 model. If you look on this page, and scroll to the bottom, it explains how to adjust/centralise the needle etc which is a different method: https://www.howacarworks.com/fuel-systems/adjusting-a-stromberg-carburettorView attachment 153530
Hope you can read this...lol it might help
Just been looking at some photos of a new build 3.5 with Strombergs. Mine doesn’t have a few hoses that this one does, but do you happen to know what the bits circled in red are...View attachment 153530

Ugh, I don’t envy you that, although I bet it works a hell of a lot bett r than my engine currently. Will have a look to see how everything should be connected up. Thanks for all your help - it’s massively appreciate. It's a breather and should be there with a flame trap... Also the white canister in your engine needs to be connected to the rocker covers...will post pics tomorrow... Spent today dismantling my smart for two engine due to a broken timing chain guide.. it's bloody plastic... nightmare tangle off pipes wires and clips going to be fun putting it back together...
Ok, I definitely don’t have one of those on both sides. Only one side. I think my fuel line is a bit of a bodge job too, so might try and find a OEM fuel line that goes into the carbs.Yes I have that...that's a pic of the back of the left hand carb that pipe goes from carb through a flame trap to rocker cover...you should have the same on each side...if you remove from carb and spray easy start in and engine fires you have a fuelling problem...
Brill, thank you!!Will post pics of my set up tomorrow... It's easy for me to take pics cause it's a 101 forward control plenty of space behind engine to show ...

The oil filler? The orange screw top thing? Or was that supposed to say oil filter...?That's also not the same engine as yours cause the oil filler is on the opposite side same as mine yours is on that rocker cover in the pic...

If it was meant to say filter, I think mine was moved due to it being a different body on top of my chassis rather than a RR chassis?
I’ve looked at my photos a bit more of my engine bay and on the back of the right hand carb (standing at the bumper) the hose that’s supposed to go via a flame trap to the rocker cover, goes towards the back of the engine!? (The one I’ve drawn on in red). This is obviously supposed to be connected to the rocker cover, right?
I can’t see where the oil filter would join the rocker cover though....?
