There is a lot of more modern cars suffering the same economic fabrication problems. Some as young as 7yr old....Had my RRC (with sun-roof) done at a local place last year, including repairs to the backing, for £300.

Any (sensible) quick fix ideas on stopping / curing a saggy roof lining short of sending it to a trim shop?
I don’t have time to do it and would rather not do it but I’m guessing a shop will charge many, many bags of gold?

Ditto down to the missus helping and patio lol. Nowhere near as bad a job as I thought it would be.My mrs helped do mine. Did it outside on the patio table. Surprisingly it looks quite good with only a couple of creases. Complete kit from Martrim for less than £100.
