Disco 2 roof leak, don't think it's the sunroof.

Hi All
My headliner is always wet in the corners which I thought would be from the hoses from the sunroof.
Today I dropped the headliner and put the garden hose on the sunroof. Not a drop of water from here? It all looks very neat and new even. I have no idea where the water is coming from. Sprayed the garden hose from every angle and didn't see any water coming in.

Any ideas?
 
I did the same the other day, the only slight leak I found was at the top edges of the windscreen, a very slight dribble on the inside.

Despite a damn good deluge on it nothing inside, I checked the flow from the corner pipes and one was a little slow so I blew that through.

I was hoping to find a simple solution, but hey ho c'est la vie.
 
Same here, I really thought that it would be the sunroof but, I will be sealing the windscreen, the roof rails and check the door seals.
 
There are two Murphy's laws which cover this subject:
  1. Tap water and rainwater are two identical substances which behave in entirely different ways.
  2. Leaks never actually leak when you're looking for them, and then from places you never would consider.
I've attached the LR water ingress manual which might help.

If I were you, while you have the headliner out I would reseal the sunroofs anyway. Unless they have been done previously, if they don't leak now they will in the future. I would also do the roofbars and check the Alpine Windows as when your at it.

Yep. I intend to. My Disco won't be back on the road as the ACE pump seized this weekend, had to come home on a tow truck.

I am taking my time to fix all little snags and upgrades.

Well, All is good and normal in the world.

After stripping down and checking and not finding any leaks from the sunroof, alpine windows, or roof rails last week.

Went out yesterday and got a veritable waterfall from the rear left hand corner on to the parcel shelf and rear corner. Also a slight leak from the passenger side seat belt.

Next step is going to involve a length of duct tape around the sunroofs to see if that stops it happening. If it does then a lot of sealant... sealant and a bit more sealant.

Nightmare I've had over the last few years of my disco sitting un loved with water ingress.as I wasn't using it I ripped the FULL interior trim out twice as I thought I'd cured it the first time.Initially there were hundreds of droplets sitting on the underside of the roof panel when the headlining was removed so I sealed the sunroofs fully with sicaflex and tapped over it to.water also seemed to come in from the top corners of the windscreen seals so they got the same treatment but its a never-ending chase as it finds somewhere else to come in through....

If you get a small leak, it creates condensation. I used green house tape on the roof seams to see what it would achieve, combined with holes that ere drilled into the top of the tub it seemed to dry it out, then I sicoflexed the roof seems now the leaks have gone. So, tape it up first, take the roof lining out and provide a vent to let the moisture evaporate then seal the roof properly and that should do it.
