Roof bar wiring - how to

How do I get power from under the bonnet to a roof bar without drilling holes in the car roof?

On my Disco I ran the lead up the side of the windscreen, one of the covers was rubber ish and could be pulled back to not quite conceal it, but a couple of tie wraps poked through held it well.
