Just finished replacing injector seals, and on replacing the rocker shaft, the final bolt has sheared......my own fault, skimped on reusing bolts.
I hopefully tried a screw driver to get out, but not enough purchase on the top, so now need to remove.
My initial plan is to use a left hand drill bit, with a deep 1/4 drive socket as guide, and if need be an extractor.
However, the bolt has sheared approx 30mm deep, and I am unsure if I can locate a suitable l/h drill , and if the extractors are indeed long enough.
I would avoid cheap extractors, but do trust Teng tools, and for some reason am leaning toward the splined extractor rather than helical.
The bolt appeared to have stretched, and went in easy, so I am hopeful that it shouldn't be seized.

Can anyone offer any experience based advice?

TIA

No experience myself but There’s a few you tube videos I’ve seen , so end of bolt is 30mm below surface
You will need an insert with a hole in centre of the diameter you need to endure drill goes in square and not skitter off the sheared end , very slow and don’t over force it
LH drill is a good start , get some penetrating fluid in and then extractor is how I would go

I used the this as I was working on the tdi engine
Td5 could be different
