They look great, mate.
I fitted a pair at the weekend that I bought off eBay. I was looking at the construction and reckon I could do the welding okay, but it's the pipe bending I'm stuck with. What did you use for the bends? (Apologies in advance if this is a really stupid question!)
I'm glad to see that the way you've got them lined up with the edge of the Landy is the same as mine. I was a bit worried to start with that the box section part was sticking out too far - but it appears that they're meant to be like that.
I meant the box section! I was imagining it would sit more flush with the side of the Landy.
the tube is just s length with two bends welded on you can by the bends to match the tube at places like b.s.s only a couple of quid they come ready chamfered you do the same with the pipe ends to get a good strong weld.
have just dropped them of at shot blasters so will take some more picks of inside fixings ect Friday when they come back
next project to start is tube bumper
They look good mate, there on my list as well as winch bumper.
Made roof rack today not finished yet though
When i mad my tree sliders i dint buy bends or bend the pipe i decided where i wanted them to "bend inwards" and split the angle between the pipes, With the trusty grinder preped the edges and welded up. I was going to do a draing and transfer it to the pipe but.....
We use to do this a lot when the bends werent at 45 deg or 90 deg, we would cut them back, But then i am a class 1 pipefitter welder to trade
As you can see you can make a nice looking bumper from only 4 parts. If you leave the a bar off it would only be 3 parts. That has been powder coated though. The pipe used for the bumper is a lot thicker than anything I've ever seen. It's at least 6 mil thick and a massive diameter. I like the chunky look.
Please don't keep the pics to PM - I'd certainly like to see them as well.
I Like that Khaos.
any chance you could PM me some more pics?
Id like to make somthing up like that, but make up some built in recovery eyes.
It does have built in eyes underneath. That one isn't the one I made. I had it made by someone else and powder coated for £50.
The one I made myself I swapped for some parts with a mate. It was an exact copy of that one except it was painted with hammerite not powder coated. I'll take some photos tomorrow from different angles.
I did cheat with my A bar though because I had it bent at someone who I know's work for free.
So just to make it clear, the pics I'm going to put up are of the bumper I copied, not the one I made. That way you won't get any of my second hand errors.
