I just got a real fright, when a mate of mine, said " thats gonna cost you, to keep that on the road" He was refering to my pride n joy! A 3.5 V8 1989 RR classic.....
He had heard that road tax was gonna go up to £1000 a bleedin year!
Please tell he's talking out of his arse?

The £950 odd, is for the first year only of new registered cars with higher than 225g emissions, from year 2 onwards it's £400 a year.

Just paid my road tax online
1996 4.6 V8 - £185.00 for the year
No complaints from me but I bet anyone who has a late P38 registered after 31st March '01 will be moaning - their road tax is now going to be £400/year !

A lot of people are in for a big surprise from next year .It's not only four by fours that will see an increase ,but the likes of Mondeo man etc as well.

eg..A 2.5V6 Mondeo Estate will also be in the same bracket.

V6 car tax is the same r/r now and has been for years

I got my bill through the post from those thieving fookers. £99 begining of march and by the time we paid it end of march it had gone up to £101.79 (for 6 months). If i remember rightly when I bought the beast in 2006 and taxed her it was around £85. That's one hell of an increase and if I see that black catterpillar eyebrowed tosser mincing in front of my car I'm going to run the little fooker over with all four wheels of my four wheel drive.

Sorry. Could really rant on for days about road tax!

I reckon its brilliant, got a '99 4.6V8 and am only paying £185 per year.

Pretty sure the value of pre 2001 P38s will hold steady or even go up a bit as a result of these changes. Later one will be dropping like flies as peeps try to offload them.

Will be sticking with mine for a while yet.

I have to agree with blackvoguebeauty, I could rant for ages about bloomin road tax and the 2 x fuel duty taxes!!!! This whole country is a rip off for motorists.
