ive just taxed my 2002 freelander td4 for 6 mnths and it was £101

Yer another injustice!! I've just done two 6 month taxes, the V6 and TD4 auto were both £115.50.

Seriously though the last few posts on this subject have quite cheered me up, its nice to know I'm not the only one being fleeced.

I feel your pain but am resigined to the new rates (unless they have some kind of backtrack and delay it for a year or two - fingers crossed).

Going down the 6 and 12 month tax route it's avoidable for nearly two years depending on when it falls, and then it's "only" another 200 quid - far less than cost of replacing the car.

I love the car and I need a 4x4 so no choice really. I will go for a post 2009 manual Freelander 2 when this one dies as they tax is pretty decent and they are brining in new technology to lower emissions. Still be a 175g but get it into the cheaper bands.

I have a feeling they are going to clobber G+ cars even worse in the future.
