Right first question for my 90

Hi guys

I want to remove the roof sides and fit van sides instead as I want to use it for green laning / off roading but as you now its a county with all the county trim in the back, can I re-fit the trim once I have fitted the van sides as at some point I mite re-fit the county sides as to if and when any grand kids arrive but don't want to just take the trim out and leave it in the garage where it could get damaged, if so I mite fit some carpet in where the trim would go round the windows to hide the van sides from the inside and add a bit of insulation at the same time, what do you think :)

It's just a bit mechano set so you can certainly do that. Do a couple of suggestions... What about a stainless steel grill over the rear windows instead? - This would still give you visibility out of the sides but protect the windows. Purchase some van sides and stick the window sides and trim for sale, they will fetch enough money for some other goodies for your new landy. I know that several people who have the van back want to go the other way, including me so you shouldn't have any problems finding a buyer.

I am not really a fan of external grills / guards as they can cause more damage due to either impact or being caught by say a branch or something rather than reducing the item the grill /guard is protecting to not get touched and if the item was to get damaged it would be easyer to fix, meaning if the window grill was to get caught by say a strong branch the grill could get torn out from its fixing points and damage the side panel so would rather have the glass get smashed instead as it would be an easy fix

the 90 already has a full set of front and rear light guards and an A bar fitted to the bumper which will be coming off strait away but will be replacing the bumper with an winch bumper but one without an A bar :)

I forgot to say I will be keeping the original sides just incase I decide at a later date to put them back on ;)

Its just a big meccano kit and pretty easy to change sides. It can be done on your own but easier with a spare pair of hands. Just because you are putting van sides on doesn't mean you need to remove the interior either.

I might be interested in the A bar if it's cheap enough and can be LZ courier'd to Doncaster area .. ;)
 
Not a bad plan to ditch the window side panels... I have a van and though I could do with better visibility, so fitted county window sides... took a few hours, but managed on my own, easy enough, as said it's just like meccano...

In the end got fed up with leaks and rattles... swapped them back, glad I kept my original van sides... sold the county sides for a profit too!

Sound proofing/insulation and security all better/easier with van set up.
