Evening all,
Had the engine immobilised message and press remote when trying to start at work. Got it started and drove home. System back to normal at home-must be the wi-fi at work.
As I see it, if the wi-fi signal is strong it will interfere with the receiver-it doesn't allow me to lock the car on the remote and throws an engine immobilised message.
By disconnecting the blue wire I'm effectively reducing the sensitivity of the system and the wifi may not have the power to affect the rf receiver. I don't think it's the rf receiver playing up as it only happens at work-we have had multi wi-fi transmitters fitted throughout the premises (school) and outside.
I have a spare RF receiver (old type) and will also try this as well. I will also park as far from the buildings as possible.
You are wasting your time changing your R/F unless its for the latest one. Try disconnecting the blue wire(aerial) and see what happens. Depending on the year, pre 2000 is ok I think, disconnect the R/F completely and just use the key. I did this over 18 mths ago and have not had any problems since.
