Hello all, been lurking for a while now and decided to make my 1st post...well second if you count the introduction one.

Anyway I bought a project 90 recently and am currently deciding if I should drop it down a bit as it's setup for off-road use and it's just not going to get much with me. It will be taken off road everyday, but only up my fields.

Question is, how hard is it to replace the current lift kit with standard setup? Cost, effort etc.

The tyres (insa turbo 285s) make a lot of noise above 40, but putting smaller tyres on will just make it look like a roller skate.

The previous owner said it's a 2" lift but it seems more to me!

What are your thoughts and opinions? I'm a total noob here - motorcycles have been my thing until now so I'm rather out of my depth...

Ah right ok. I'm thinking I will drop it back to original. What could I expect to sell the lift kit for? I want to subsidise the cost of the standard kit, but if I could do a swap that would be great. Am I dreaming?

You would have to give more information about the kind of kit fitted, but I would say that yes you are dreaming!

Generally +2" and standard are the same price when new...
 
Right I see, apparently is got a "full MiB twist kit" if that means anything to anyone? Dislocation cones too...the shocks do have a brand sticker that I can't make out, think it says "comp"?

"pro comp" then maybe

To be honest I don't know too much about suspension, but that looks quite a fancy setup!
 
Ah yes I googled it and it is procomp! Yeah the whole thing is quite good really, 2" lift, twist kit, full breather system (diff axles etc), 24 spline axles, 30mm wheel spacers, warn winch, rebuilt 4 pin diff, spots all round, rock and tree sliders, snorkel and stuff I've forgotten I'm sure.

Seems a waste on me really, I'll only really being going up to my top field to feed the sheep lol just for the winter when it gets muddy and icy as it's quite steep in parts.
 
Have a look at the MIB twist kit on their site

If you have the full kit on yours, it'll have castor corrected arms, new extended mounts etc. so you'd have to do a whole lot of swapping out to revert to standard!

If it was a standard 2" sus lift, it'd just be a case of swapping the springs and shocks, but you'll need new turrets and shock mounts too by the looks of it.

I've got a set of standard pro-comp shocks and standard HD springs I'd swap you, but I really don't think it's worth it considering you might have to get all the other bits too!

Plus if the arches have been cut, you won't get standard arches to fit. I think you'll need smaller tyres too, 285's won't fit standard height suspension without rubbing

personally id say sell this and buy a standard one , this is a lot of vehicle to not be used and as its not needed you may save some money selling this and buying a standard one
 
Yeah now that I've looked into it more it seems silly to revert everything. Besides, I'm growing to like it anyway! I'll just have to resign myself to the fact it's a bit high! To be honest, I'm thinking that perhaps just having another set of wheels will be fine. I guess still 285s but just a more standard tread so that they don't whine so much at cruising speeds!

It's a nice bit off kit and I took it off road the other day and loved it - maybe it will shoehorn me into more off roading and even pay and play days!
