Retrofit Electric sunroof in a 5DR '04?

Hi, I wanted to ask if you guys think it's possible to fit an electric sunroof to a Freelander '04 that doesn't have one! I've searched the forum and can't find a thread, although it must have be done by someone out there before.

The main barrier other than a big old job, seems to be the cost and actually going ahead and cutting a ruddy great hole in your car, which is kind of risky to say the least.

It seems to pull this of, it would be a case of getting hold of the parts and somehow making a DIY template (copied off another Freelander?) to know where to cut the hole? I'm sure a Landrover dealer would squirm at the idea of being asked to cut the hole so it would be a skilled forum user or someone with a friendly local mechanic/body shop.

Other than the nightmare of fitting the whole thing and making it work, I guess to prepare the cutting of the whole it would be: Remove aerial, remove headlining, remove roof rails, disconnect battery then go for it with some kind of drill/hole saw to and then jig saw.

From searching on the internet I've made a guess at the parts needed, some may be missing or incorrect or not needed.

I onced broached the subject of a retro fit sun roof with a installer he declined saying that the roof is supported by a internal strenghening bands and would be a compleate B'stard to do .
I assume he was correct other wise he would have taken my money

Most hippo owners who have a sunroof wish they didn't have one. Myself included!

sunroof on the 3 door is a peach ! just unhook the solid roof panels and fit the glass ones.

all seems a bit of a kerfuff on a 5 door. don't think I'd be cutting holes in the roof to spend nearly £1500.
