Retrofit electric mirrors

Hi all

On my way in to work this morning I clipped my n/s wing mirror and lost the glass, no further damage fortunately but now that I have to replace the glass I got to thinking would it be feasible to replace the manual mirrors with electric ones and possibly even electric folding mirrors.

Mines a 2002 Disco 2 TD5, can anyone advise are the necessary wires in place, obviously for the switch and to power the mirrors and is it a nasty job not worth considering.

I did it on my Disco 300 Tdi, all it needed was the switch and mirror assembly, all wires and 'stuff' were in place and it was actually dead easy!

They were cheaper to buy electric mirrors than manual!!

Mines a 2002 TD5, basic model and has electric mirrors. I presumed they all did?! Have you not got the switch for them then?

I've never seen any spec of D2 that has manual mirrors ??????

Ebay, £3

Similarly I retro-fitted headlamp adjusters and switch, ebay £9 + £4 and various other bits and bobs.

Mine was a D1 300 Tdi though, 1997 plate. But yes, i also thought all D2's had leccy mirrors and windows, mine had neither!!

Thanks for the comments, apparently not all did, no switch nor motors, unless previous owner removed them but cant see why. my previous D1 had electric mirrors. interestingly the electric headlight adjuster is fitted.

there are modells without electric mirrors from factory... for the electric adjustment you need a switch pack and the mirrors and it's plug and play cos all the wiring is there, for folding you need special switch and a dedicated ECU too(YWC105260) and there is a chance that the wiring to not be complete all the way...some checks are needed for that

Cool, thanks sierraferry. I'll do some more digging on the folding ones, guess the first step would be to look at the ecu ser. No.
