Front DRLs can be fitted easily enough, using the kit (including the controller) from Powerfull UK. For year lights, simply put on the headlights. So,proud owner of a 2010 F/L 2 genuine 50k miles, would like to retrofit drls ( powerfuluk look good) anyone know if it's possible to wire in additional lights at the rear, fitted into bumper to run simultaneously with front DRLs, please?
Many thanks, Nodge.,Front DRLs can be fitted easily enough, using the kit (including the controller) from Powerfull UK. For year lights, simply put on the headlights.
Ot is possible to fit LEDs to the rear reflectors, but they're too low and too dim to work effectively as DRLs.
Simply use the lights to put the tail lights on.
Actually Nodge ,Many thanks, Nodge.,
Much appreciated
Make sure they're "E" marked, or you could have problems at MOT time.Actually Nodge ,
I was wondering about 2 x Kelsall bar type leds in the rear bumper?
Why?
Because the Mrs asked to have front and rear leds!
Thank you Nodge, good point!Make sure they're "E" marked, or you could have problems at MOT time.
If you take the power from the fuse suggested in the Powerful UK DRL instructions, then it won't upset the vehicle electronics at all.Thank you Nodge, good point!
Do you think they would cause / contribute to coding errors?
They down draw a great deal of current?
Thank you
The kit from Powerful UK turns the DRLs on with engine starting, but only if the headlights aren't on. If the headlights are on, it drops the brightness of the DLRs to the same level as side lights. It can also dim the DRL on the side that the indicator is flashing, just like factory DRLs.To comply with the law/ MOT rules your DRLs must turn off automaticaly when you switch on your proper road lights. Its a modivication to the car wiring system, so you need to inform your insurance company. Is it really that dificult to simply use the existing light switch?

Yes the insurance should be told, as there are connections being made to the factory wiring.
For after market DRLs all you need is one of these items below, not a £24.00 pcb supplied without any containment or wiring from other suppliers.

Daytime running lights (DRLs) are checked during an MOT if they were originally fitted to a vehicle first used on or after March 1, 2018
MOT rules for DRLs are.
DRLs must be white light
There can't be more than two DRLs
DRLs might not work when the engine is off, the parking brake is on, or the park position is selected
If a DRL doesn't work, it's a major defect
DRLs can act as front position lamps
DRLs can dim or turn off when the headlamps are switched on
DRLs can switch off when the front fog lamps are switched on
DRLs don't need to be manually operated
Yes, thanks, that makes senseI forgot to say what has DRL to do with engines, should be in the main Freelander forum maybe
Tungsten side light bulbs are dimmer than white LED DRL bulbs, if the side lights are LED then there's usually less LEDs than the DRL fittingWhy should drl be any brighter than side lights?
Well that depends how bright they are made?Tungsten side light bulbs are dimmer than white LED DRL bulbs, if the side lights are LED then there's usually less LEDs than the DRL fitting
Thanks, which sidelight bulbs would you recommend?Tungsten side light bulbs are dimmer than white LED DRL bulbs, if the side lights are LED then there's usually less LEDs than the DRL fitting
