I fancy fitting air con to my 300tdi. Does anyone know if there are kits available or is it a case of finding a breaker and getting everything from that?

Both!
a/c was retro fitted by one of the LR magazines in a RRC they used an after market kit but fitted heater matrix and controls from a breaker to keep the dash looking standard, it was a few years ago and then it cost nearly £2000 but there's no reason why you can't do the same with a disco if you think it's worth it.

Not for £2k it's not!!
I thought it would be £2-300.

Go to a scrappy and remove all that you require it's all bolt-on although you will have to replace the complete heater box so the whole front of the dash will have to be removed.
With the kits the heat exchanger is bolted on the outside somewhere of the heater box using new ducts but you will still to remove most of the dash.
