Hi,

I’m new to this forum and I am currently restoring a 1997 Defender 300tdi. My question is about head linings.

Having recently removed the old front head lining, with the intention of recovering it, I found the base material was crumbling around the edges. I started looking at replacements and found second hand ones were few and far between and generally looked scruffy and that none of the mainstream suppliers did them with the sunroof hole cut out.

I found Defender71.com (formerly OEM Developments) and have tried to contact them with no success.

Has anyone bought anything from this business or even had chance to speak to them?

Thanks in anticipation.

.Hello again:)cant help with that company but laselle (I think they're called) do fibreglass replacements or, as I did, smear fibreglass paste over the crumbly bits and that braced mine up a treat. Extra fir trees help to keep it all a bit less saggy.

Thanks for the advice Flossie. I have looked at LaSalle but they only drill holes for the sun visors etc. They leave you to cut out the holes for the sunroof and interior lights. As they cost £535 for the basic finish, I’m a little reluctant to buy them and start cutting holes in them myself. I’ve thought about blanking off the sunroof with a piece of aluminium but I like the light it lets in, although I am going to purchase a fixed double glazed option from VGS.

The old front section is now at the local tip. It was beyond repair.

I used fiberglass to make it sturdy then bought some 4 way streach material off eBay .use heat resistant spray glue .I took my time and was impressed with the finished product
