Recently replaced fog lamp switch Defender 300tdi which only activates on the off position. When pressing down on the switch nothing happens and when pressing up on the off position lamp lights. Is this normal for repro items Anyone experienced this. Also can anyone tell me how to access the bulbs that light the switch functions as having taken off the cover nothing seems to make sense. Would appreciate your thoughts.

There are loads of rubbish/fake parts out there these days, you would think it is not worth it for a low cost item but the barstewards do.
Avoid Ebay unless from known Land rover parts supplier, even then check.

Some later models (including, for example, my 1998 discovery) didn't use a normal switch for the rear fog. Instead it's a momentary switch that signals a small ECU to activate the rear fog. The idea is that it resets when you turn the ignition off and prevents you from leaving the fog lamp on accidentally.

If thisis the case with yours, then it could be that the lamp only switches on when the momentary switch is pressed and then released- so with a latching switch, turning it on then off.
