so was looking into replacing the crankshaft pulley as it started squeaking a bit and found this video:

Instead of making up a tool to hold the crankshaft while undoing and tightening the pulley, this bloke just locked the flywheel. Is this safe or do i run the risk of damaging something, considering the torque measurements in question? seems A LOT easier like this!

looking at Rave manual it seems to suggest use of the lever rather than locking the flywheel :(

yes, i have seen it on discovery2.co.uk but locking the flywheel with the laser tool (i already have it!) would make it so much easier i recon
That bolt is rather tight, you need something strong to lever against.
Give it a try, what could go wrong?

yes that is why i thought the pin is a great idea, it would allow me to use both hands on the torque wrench
