Up **** creek.
Ive had the same springs on my disco since I bought it over 3 years ago, looking at them they could well be the original springs. Ive changed the shocks to Bilstiens.

Im not going to go down the 2"lift/big wheels etc road at the moment as I think my Disco is a more than adequate machine for my needs so what I would like to know is what springs would you lot recomend as a good replacement?

I use it for light offroading/greenlaning (its still got the front valance with fogs and a HD towbar to give you an idea of the level of off roading I do - but I do still want it to be competent off road) I use it for carting big things about if needs be - logs etc, the very occasional tow, it would be nice to have better road manners aswel, Oh yeah and dont forget ok in the big snow! So im not asking for much:D

steer clear of britpart yellow heavy duties unless you're towing big loads, I've got em on and they make the ride real hard.

cheers, ive been on ebay and all I can seem to find are either HD or +2" springs and I dont need to be higher or carry/tow heavier things.

I suppose if I put new landy original springs on it it would be better than the tired old ones that are on it now but im not paying main stealer prices no way. Anyone know of a cheaper supplier or alternative equal/better quality spring?

So whats the difference between police spec and LR spec? did the coppers need to bollock it around a lot more and therefor had a firmer ride? or did they just need it because they carried a lot of heavy kit? Also noticed military spec when I quickly just looked on ebay, whats the difference with them aswel?

Yes, they help stop the body roll quite a bit

or did they just need it because they carried a lot of heavy kit?

Yes, Only a bit firmer than standard so does not give you a harsh ride and you don't lose out on articulation like you do with the HD springs

Dunno:eek:

Hmmmm, I like the idea of a firmer ride to give my little boat better road manners and at £55.15 all in they may have to go on santas wish list, can anyone tell me what they are like off the tarmac? Are they slightly road biased (motoray?) and if so is the off road capability compromised at all? Sorry for so many questions I m just trying to get a greater understanding on the subject,I ve only ever lowered/stiffened 2 cars in the past (nice old 3 series BM and an old Golf) and so only have limited knowledge.

i use mine both off and on road and tow an ifor williams trailer now and again, never had a problem with them only had them on for a month right enough and tbh prob will be changing them for lifted ones after crimbo..

just had a quick look at MM4X4 and they do original front springs for £12 each and rears for £16 or you can get "Uprated Rear Coil Springs" aswel but not front ones, what is the difference between them the and normal ones, they arent HD as they offer them aswel.

Not sure whether to go with the Police spec springs, original LR or these "uprated" ones.

Still need a little more advice.......

I have had police spec on the rear of my 300 for 3/4 years now no problems a good ride on and off road, std on the front getting a bit tired now,as i am doing the shocks all round will be doing the springs aswell.

Not sure on the "uprated" springs but I'd imagine that they've got a higher lb/in rating than standard ones. Why not email them and get the specs off them?

Spring Ratings

yeah looks like I may have to buddy, was just hoping someone on here may shed some light on the subject (im lazy lol) been talkin to an old landy mech and he sais the police ones are really good springs and great value for money so im def swaying more and more in that direction at the mo.

tempting....but dont you also have to do all sorts of other stuff aswel? and then run the risk of putting more strain on components due to the different angles? mine would probably fall apart lol
