I am in the market for a replacement rear door. There seems to be many different options, what do people recommend as the best one? I have a swing away wheel carrier so it will not be taking the weight of the spare, although preferably I would one which is reinforced to take the spare just as a precaution.

below are the options I am considering with links provided for reference only, once I have decided which "style" to go for I will then find the best place to buy.

My preference would be for a galvanised frame but these are available with both the normal aluminium skin (link 1), or a galvanised skin (link 2). Which is better?

Both of these options keep with the original door design, but for the same price I could consider second hand versions of the later pressed steel door(link 3, link 4)

What would people recommend?

I like the look of Link 2.
The price is just a few quid more than I paid for a bog standard, steel, britpart one about 4 years ago :(

When did these happen? If they are as good as they say they are its a no brainer. Even if the welding is a bit shabby https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rov...0:g:jeoAAOSwirFbEoxd:rk:2:pf:1&frcectupt=true

This is what I am trying to work out. If I am buying new a glav frame is a definite. But am hoping someone can feel back how the glav door skin is compared to aluminium and the overall quality of the door.

Is there any advantage to the later pressed steel versions over a glalanised version of the older ones?

I've no experience but some thoughts...
The new all galv one would take your glass / door card/ wiper motor etc.
The puma type would not unless you got one complete of course.
If you got a puma one complete then you would have to deal with wiring or connector differences as well.
I do like the look of the puma ones though, are they fully galved as well?

I had worked out I would need to get a complete one and then solder differant convectors onto the loom. I did not realise the puma ones were galved. Are the td5 and puma door the same?

I don't know if puma are galved.
They might have a thin zinc coating which is better than bare steel but not as good as hot dipped galvanized.
Hot dipped galvanized is expensive and problematic for mass production so puma won't be done in that.
Td5 is the same as your door, it changed at puma as did the front doors.

I don’t think td5 is the same as mine I thought they changed halfway through the production run. isnt the td5 rear window a differant shape and held in place with a rubber seal rather than the aluminium strips?
Is the change in window shape the point at which they became the pressed one piece doors?

I purchased a rear door rom SP recently. The skin was badly fitted and the upper frame sections did not align with the lower skin. It took three weeks to arrive and my questions relating to their quality claims were ignored. Got a refund in the end but twice I have purchased from them and twice I have been dissatisfied. My advice is to source elsewhere.

I had issues with their rear light panels. Their packaging leaves an awful lot to be desired!

I think you are correct my bad:oops:.

As we are talking about sp 4x4. I got they're rear door. Just the basic one as I to had a swing away wheel carrier . Two problems I had, the hole for the key did not line up with the lock when it was fitted so had to file it out to allow fitting of plastic escutcheon. The other problem was the holes for the middle hinge were too near the edge which ment the holes on the other side of the hinge didn't line up with the holes in the side panel. Could only file out these holes as the ones in the door were sleeved.

I thought I had seen them in here before. Do you make the other doors too?

Series door bottoms that take antiburst locks would be nice. Whats the weight difference between ali and steel like?
