I want to remove the tow bar from a L322, the actual 'hook' itself will come off, but it leaves the plug in connector and lead hanging down, and the bracket the 'hook' fixes to, is welded to the rear bear that runs across the rear of the car, is the bracket on every L322? Looks bit unsightly hanging down, was going to cable tie the cable up out the way behind rear bumper, did RR make the rear beams with, and without the brackets welded to them?

er, not sure?? Have all RR's got the bracket welded to the beam? or can you get beams without the bracket on?

bump anyone? Even with tow bar removed (or what of it that can be removed), theres still 2 plates hanging down looking rather unsightly.....

Seen another L322 and had no plates/brackets visabl from behind it, is this rear 'beam' a changeable item? And, if so, anyone fancy a straight swap? or naked beam for my beam with tow bar?

From the ones i have seen, the towbar assembly bolts onto the rear chassis legs, not ever seen one welded on, however your best bet may be to take it to one of your local towbar fitters who could get it up on a ramp to have a better look at it

I've just fitted a bar to my L322. Ok, it was a Witter and not the LR one but I imagine the principle is the same. To fit mine I had to remove the bumper mounts and replace with part of the bracketery for the towbar, therefore I would assume you would need to find some bumper brackets and do the reverse. I found this quite useful and would show you the parts involved.

Above shows the tow bar from one corner of the RR

Above shows where it mounts to the corner under the rear bumper, bolted to a plate

Above shows where it looks like it bolts up to the floor of the boot perhaps?

Exhaust hanger is fixed to the spring bar (best description i can come up with)
