Had these on it when I bought it.
They are airbags for supporting heavy loads.
Good but anyone ever had a go at removing them???

I'm wondering if I need a set of spring compressors to do the bizz on this...

No you don't need spring compressors. undo the top shocker mounts and then jack the chassis up. This will allow the rear axle to droop. You'll have to deflate the bags before removing them.

Yes but they should be adjustable. Inflate em when load carrying and deflate em when empty.

Ahh. I'd leave them be myself. They might come in useful. That said, I've had the back of my 90 piled up to the roof with yorkshire stone slabs (not stolen!) and it didn't drop down a right lot. The braking was reduced substantially though.

yer, i have a quarter of a tonne in mine regular, it drops slightly but the breaking is fookin scary :eek:

so i tend to use the sankey trailer more as its breaked ;) a lot safer as yer dont get pushed in to the traffic at roundabouts and junctions :D

Maybe leave the springs and condoms and replace the tired shocks? I am sure the audience will correct me but looking at them I cant see them air bags being effective until put under a heavy load and should behave normal for every day driving?
If it aint bust... dont fix it :)

i dont think yer will notice them under normal use no,

untill its full to bursting, then it should take the slump off the weight a bit, just look pointless to me,

True, but it's better to have an not need...
I am planning on replacing them thar' shocks though, they are a bit worn...

You don't mention what sort of ride the current set up is giving? If the front shocks and springs are okay/reasonable then maybe just try replacing the rear shocks which is a hell of a lot easier and can be done in an hour or 2. That should make more of a difference than replacing springs. Saves forking out for stuff you may not need for now. :)

My 110 weighs in at around 2.5ton at all times. I've never had a problem with braking (even when towing vehicles ona straight bar) but it was a bit unstable when cornering at speed. Might be summit to do with having no anti-rollbars or self leveler though. Since fitting the helper springs it's stopped the back sagging and made it much better at cornering.
