Removing Series gear knob

Is it a case of brute force?! Got the replacement and it doesn't seem to be threaded. Previous one was doesn't seem keen to come off. Should I just get the grips on it?

Thanks, tried a search but no joy.

unscrews on mine I think or that might have been the another LR box......maybe drift it off

got far too many gearboxes here.....

The main gearbox knob isn't threaded - it's held in by a serrated packing piece. Brute force, I'm afraid.

Yeah and look after that packing piece, ( can't remember the proper name) They are getting hard to find now.

I had trouble with mine too twist and lift worked
