Have a CD stuck in the player (single CD unit). Advised the unit will have to come out so an Auto Electrician can rescue the disk. Question is, how to remove the console as I can't find any obvious screws or clips. Does anyone have any ideas?

Any help appreciated.

Once the allan bolts are out you need another set of keys to push into the holes to release the retaining clips inside. Match sticks will do this, insert about 2 cm I think from memory, not all the way in or you'll lose them. That's if this 2 hole system is the same as the 4 hole system.
Good luck and welcome to Landyzone
But, if it's not like the iso system you spoke of then I'm stumped. I'm sure some one else must have the answer.

radio should come out with a old metel coat hanger cut about 6in long and bent acordingliy to fit the radio holes.... they can be tricky.... if you can getyer hand behind to push ... bobs yer uncle.

:)

used ta sell the keys in halfords,if not most car audio places ave em, but i use the mondo trick, bit fidderly though. . . .

Evening folks

Had a look at this yesterday but there aren't any holes (for alen keys, bits of coat hanger etc) either on the unit or anywhere around it or the facia. Someone has suggested you start by removing the inner cubby box then releasing screws to shift the housing away from the dash which then reveals futher screws. Will give this a go but sounds a bit of an unusual way to access the unit.

Any other comments helpful but I'll report back in in any event - you never know, once sorted (if ever) might help someone else!

to be honest i never had any agro taking out my old unit. there were 2 small blanking end caps over the ends of the unit which popped of and then there were 4 REALLY small allen screws to remove and the go at it with the coat hangers.

do you have a small child whos hand you could get up the back of the console to push on the radio. or a very slim knife you could get down the side if the radio to releace the retaning clips..

other than that i don't know what to suggest...

a full strip of the dash screws near the handbreak and the ones a the sides near the heater vents and about 2 hours worth of jiggery pokery..

Thanks for everyones help with this problem - there's obviously a variety of different fitments judging from the replies.

For my 55 plate, the private message 'Clutchdust' sent me fits the bill exactly and gives you all the info' you need.

Thought I'd share with you all for when you get the same problem (and according to local dealers, if you're using your own recorded discs, it will happen to you eventually!!

Thanks again Clutchdust.

Center console is easy to remove, lift the lid on the cubby box and take out 4 screws, remove the tray complete with lid, with that out of the way, you'll see 2 silver screws that hold the rear of the console to the floor, remove them, then flip up the plastic cover directly below the hand brake lever, loosen but don't remove the screws, unplug any switches and wiggle the rear half out.

front half....... remove 2 torx screws either side of the gear lever on the side of the console, above the radio is a cover, put a srewdriver in the slot on top and lever the cover backwards, remove the 2 screws once the cover is out, pull up the gear lever gaiter and unplug the hdc switch, pull the console back and unplug the switches and ciggy lighter, lift out of the way, remove 4 screws and take the radio out.

to get the cd out, remove the top cover of the radio, if you're lucky, it'll come out but sometimes they break.
