Remote won't open car

Can anyone help me please, tried to open the car last night and remote won't open it. If I use the key to open it the alarm goes off and it won't start but when I lock it with the key the alarm stops.the battery in the fob is new ,it's as if the car dosnt recognise the fob.what do I have to do please,by the way it's a 2000 td5, knowing my luck it'll end up costing me an arm and a leg

most commonly the roof receiver is gone, it's plug and play, untill then if you dont know the EKA go tomorrow to a main dealer with the ownership papers and ask for EKA code, then use it when the car is immobilised and get to a dedicated tester to do that http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/recommendation-d2-owners-184078.html , also make sure that the key doesnt lost syncronisation, dont you have a spare fob to try? about the EKA see attachment,

Thanks for that,if the roof receiver is shot,where do I get a new one and where is it? I only have one key but am getting a new one done tomorrow. Do I need to get the code from the dealers or is it a matter of just getting a new roof receiver ?

the roof receiver will fix things IF that's the problem...but there could be other issues too like the BCU which is much more complicated... you must get the EKA code from a main dealer if it's your car and you better get it anyway to have it just in case, for roof receiver google out YWY000080 and see attachment

Push/tow it down the road first. They're susceptible to interference from various things. Wireless Weather station (eg) with a low battery can interrupt the signal and stop it working. Try it tomorrow, roll it down the road, try it again. Worth a go- it's FREE!!!

Happened to mine a few weeks ago.
Parked up a lot near a big crane, want to leave and same story as Mickeydog.
After a while, suddenly she starts. Drove to garage, no fault codes, fob and battery tested and ok, signal tested and ok, BCU ok.
They knew of 3 other people who have/had the same problem (2 disco's, 1 RR).
A couple of days later, I had to be in the same location.
Parked up on the same spot (deliberately), happened again, pushed the car 25m down the road and started immediately.
Could be interference like Disco DJ says.

this car has been in the garage for 7 weeks now and still not fixed. its had a new remote receiver,not that,the BCU has been sent of to some guy in hemel hempsted and returned supposedly fixed,still not that,originally tried the EKA code but it didn't work but now the new BCU is on the EKA code they sent with it would work but for some reason the engine would only turn over but not start,must still be immobilised,they are going to check the wire that comes from the receiver to the BCU coz the land rover dealer said it will be that but with my luck it won't be,can anybody tell me what it might be please ? I'm fed up with it now,thanks

if you replaced the BCU you have to find somebody with nanocom and sync it with the engine ECU to make it learn the security code and programm the fobs to work with it...if the car stood for long give a good charge to the battery, eventually measure the voltage while cranking cos if it fails under 10V it will not start

my mates d2 had a similar problem ,It was the fob , the little switch under the button had partially come off the circuit board , re soldered and all fixed

If its the receiver it will be due to rust on the earth it doesnt take much rust to effect it i changed mine within 30 mins really really easy

does anybody know of someone who has a nanocom that can come to stalybridge and pair my newly fitted bcu to my ecu,obviously i will pay the going rate coz the garage that the car is in don't know what they're doing,i just wish id taken it to land rover......8 weeks now and not impressed

Tip. Stop the alarm sounding remove the rear fuse (horns) in engine fuse-box and pull plug on horn by fuel switch engine compartment passenger side. Immoboiliser is still active as shown by light on dash but its quieter while you work.
Same fault with mine one lunch time, fob not working so opened door with key and alarm sounded. Went through the EKA process to disable alarm then had to reprogram the keys with Nanocom for some reason all Ok since, Sorry but too far away to help with Nanocom
