This appears to be the Fuel Burning Heater Unit itself (FBH) with fuel lines, pump etc - standard in TD4 Freelanders that aids cold weather starting (lives in the front passenger wheel arc and often puffs smoke and makes a lot of noise when the temperature is 5 degrees C or below. Make sure you check before you buy!

So there are two options: Remote control, or timer version.
Both have disadvantages/advantages.
Presumably the only disadvantage of the timer version, is it turns on every day and if you don't drive the vehicle you get a flat battery within 5 days or so?
The obvious disadvantage with the remote version is if you don't 'zap' it - it ain't turning on.
