Hello
Thanks for all your help and advice before with my transmission warning light problem, turned out I needed the head gasket replacing, and it had an oil leek on the gearbox, anyway all is well now. I do however have a new problem, since getting the disco fixed, it now seems reluctant to start, more so in the colder weather, it does always start first time but seems to turn over for a long time before it actually fires. It turns over at a good speed, and if the car has warmed up it will start very easily. We have checked the fuse to the glow plugs, and that seems fine, we think the glow plugs may need replacing, does anyone else have any clues??
Thanks Claire

Hi Claire, this is Dave, if I were you and this starting problem has only ocurred after the garage did they head gasket (therefore removed the head), I would be taking it back to them for them to put it right.

It may be that they forgot to reconnect something in the head gasket replacement process.

If the engine is turning over fast enough that should eliminate the battery and starter motor as problem areas, my guess would be they disturbed something and not put it back together quite correctly.

Speak to the garage and see what they have to say.

Good luck

Dave

Hi
It was my dad who did the repair, he's been over the car today and isolated the problem to a connector on the wire between the glow plug relay and the connector prior to the glow plugs, he thinks it is the actual connector which is broken, maybe it did get knocked during the repair, anyway it stops the glow plugs from working. He has been trying to locate a replacement part for this bit of the wiring loom, does anyone know where we might get one?? It would make for an easy repair if we could find one?
Thanks Claire:rolleyes:
