Blimey , see the recall effects vehicles from 2007 , surprised really because German engineering is always portrayed as being the best
Most complicated seems to be synonymous with best to many people.

Look at the wartime stuff. Panther tank for example had a tendancy of killing its own transmission.

At Kursk:

184 Panthers deployed

44 removed because of mechanical failure

56 removed because of damage caused by AT mines and enemy fire

58 Panthers completely lost by the end of Citadel

-By Day 3 of the operation, only 40 out of 184 Panthers were operational
-By Day 6 of the operation, only 10 out of 184 Panthers were operational


Then there's the west german G11 rifle. Literally made with german space magic clockwork or some bull****.

Production aborted because of both reunification and excessive complexity.

I guess the german engineering is the most advanced or whatever in these cases. I mean even the cup holders in my polo are over the top, cool, but unnessecerrily complex with lots of folding bits that retract.

Not really the best though.

Years ago i thought these survey's were reliable. But not so sure now. If the data comes from the number of repairs recorded only then it's more reliable. If it comes from owners filling out a questionnaire then it's less reliable. Angry or fussy owners are more likely to fill it out. More relaxed owners may not care or accept the occasional fault as unimportant as it's minor or easily fixed. Some take great o'fence at faults occuring when others are just glad it's covered under warranty. Some makes/models attract more or less votes so this can easily offset the feeling for a perticular make. Vehicles more popular with wimmins dun't seem to get the same complaints as vehicles driven more by none wimmins. Independent breakdown attendance figures and reasons from the likes of the AA are a more reliable source of comparison.
